Hello, Me and my partner have been down this road as we both wanted to become carry our children so it was a mutual and non-jealous type of thing. she was able to become pregnant but unable to carry it was a devastating situation. Just remind her that the child belongs to both of you so she is still a mother regardless which one of you carry.Is this going to solve everything? No. Make sure she is there every step of the way for the child and made to feel as just as much importance. Each doctor visit make sure she has a part of it.. make the comments "Look at OUR child" "WE are so lucky." It's important for them to feel as much of a part of the pregnancy and raising the child as you. In a lot of states same sex couples are allowed to sign as both mother and father. In our case she filled her name in under father because the one carrying is automatically listed as mother obviously. It will be tough I promise you. There will be moments where she feels inadequate but in any relationship it's the partners job to make their partner feel comfortable and important. Good luck ladies.

You should go to a hair salon because that's usually where they sale real human hair because if you get them at a store they'll probably rip you off. The best hair is indian hair it can cost you anywhere from 200 - 300 dollars for 1 track . I use to get weaves and extensions all the time in high school but it ruins your hair a lot because it rips it from the root and it can also rot your hair because of all the water that it absorbs. My lips are burning/tingling after having oral sex, What could I have?

I was giving a girl oral sex last night (mutual) and this morning, about 11 hours later, my lips but more so the left side of my bottom lip began to have a burning, tingling, and maybe a little swollen sensation when I woke up the next morning. I have a cold sore beneath my nose and I want to basically grow a herpes culture and mess with it a bit as well as test the sore for herpes simplex (even though I already saw a dermatologist who confirmed that it is HSV-1...I just want to do it myself because I am a nerd). I have unlimited access to a biology lab including a PCR and any type of agar you can think of but I don't even know how to go about starting a herpes culture. What type of medium might I be able to grow a culture on? as far as the test goes, I was thinking about doing a PCR to look for viral DNA...will this work or is HSV an RNA virus? Life has been fabelous for me and my husband and i realise we are lifes winners and feel very lucky. We live in a fabelous 7 bedroom house in the leafy part of town. However, i would like One more to end the family and i find my body is letting me down. I feel very upset, i'm trying this past 6 months. Would IVF work for a man with cystic fibrosis?

my husband is infertile due to cystic fibrosis. I've been knowing this since we first started dating, but its really starting to hit home now because now we're at the point where we are ready to have kids & arent able to. Well I've done some research & the science behind it is that the tubes that carry sperm are being blocked by mucus & therefore the sperm isnt developing properly. The doctors say there's a 99.9% chance that my husband will never be able to have kids. If his sperms arent even able to fully develope would ivf even work for him?

Genital herpes and childbirth?

I'm 37 weeks pregnant and I tested positive for HSV antibodies at my 36 week appointment. I'm starting the valtrex tomorrow, but I am extremely concerned about passing this horrible virus on to the baby, as the effects can be detrimental. I have never had an outbreak before, at least not to my knowledge. I know people can have asymptomatic breakouts. I asked my midwife about this, and she said that if I don't have any active lesions, the virus won't spread to my baby, and I won't have a c-section. I still feel very uncomfortable. My question is, if I'm taking the valtrex, can I still pass the virus to my baby during natural birth? Would a c-section be a better option? Have any other women given vaginal birth to a baby with genital herpes without any complications? Please help, I'm very upset and uncomfortable.

Is IVF my only option now?

In Jan I had a tubal reversal, did and HSG in feb and it showed spillage quickly on right, but minimal on left. I got pregnant last month but it was an ectopic and I lost the right tube. Is there any suggestions about opening the left tube more, can surgery do this, or another HSG? IVF is so expensive I do not think we could ever afford that and now I feel like all hope is lost?

I am going through IVF for the first time. I took the ovidrel shot on May 31st @9pm, ER was at 7:30 on June 2nd and we had 2 embryos grade B both blastocysts transfered on June 7th. I miss my ex. Now what?

My ex and I were only together for 4 months but I was so happy when I was with him. He was happy too. Until we both shared that our feelings for one another were more than we expected them to be so soon. I didn't see a problem with it bc I take things as they come. Just bc I didn't plan on having feelings for him didn't mean I didn't enjoy those feelings. However, he has a lot of walls up and was very afraid......of love I think. He said he needed some time to think about it. I told him to take as much time as he needed. That was a Thursday. On Saturday morning he sent a text asking to see me, but bc I had to work we had to wait until the next day to meet. I went to his house that Sunday and he told me that te only thing he was sure of was that I made him happy. I was satisfied with that. Then 10 days later....he broke up with me. He did it via phone. He wouldn't see me in person bc he said it would hurt him too much. I was devastated. He told me that he wasn't happy and he hadn't been happy for a while. 10 days is a while? He really wouldn't answer any of my questions and the only excuse he gave me was he was uncomfortable with my male friends. He had no reason to be bc I never flirt with or encourage my male friends at all. I think it was the feelings. I think he was afraid. I happened to see him at the beach 2 days after we broke up and he couldn't even look at me. He had tears in his eyes and he was shaking a little but he wouldn't look at me. Again, he didn't say much and we only talked for about 10 minutes. I have since left him alone and it has been exactly one month. I miss him. I want him back. What would you do? Would you leave him alone? Would you try to contact him? Try to start a friendship? I just don't know what to do. But I do know that I want him in my life. I get all kinds of advice from friends.....things like, "just wait it out bc he'll realize how much he misses you and come back" to, "get over it" to, "try calling him and inviting him for a drink or ask him to teach you to play golf". I have no idea what the right thing is. And just to make it clear, cheating (another woman) was/is not the issue. One of my close friends rents an apartment 2 houses over from his and she says there's never any cars at his place but his (she tells me this without my asking bc she's hopeful we'll get back together). He's a teacher so going out late at night isn't really an option, so if he is dating someone else she must be a very unhappy woman that he doesn't spend time out of his apt lol. I'm just worried that if I try to contact him now that I'll make him mad.....should I give him time or what? We're both adults and professionals. This isn't some high school drama. Sewn Extensions, please help!?

I just got sewn in extensions 2 days ago, and they hurt because they're really tight, and for some reason, they're itchy during the night and I can't help. My husband and I both have it, and we didnt get it from each other! There is no cure, so again, my advice is to use the cream only, it is soothing, the pills are not. Its no big deal, ok...cold sores are the same virus, just affecting the mouth instead of the genitals...an inconience yes, contageous, yes, devestating, no...take it easy, be re assuring, it is NOT the end of the world, and its just part of the human condition.

Ive been TTC since August of 2009. In october 2010 I seeked my primacy care doctor to put in a referrel for me to see a fertility specialist. I have a period every month, just never the same amount of days apart. My husband has a daughter from the past, so of course I blamed myself for us not conceiving. well, I FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY (sorry I'm really excited LOL) got an appointment made. I am military, so the referrel process with our insurance takes FOREVER. Its an appointment I have been looking forward to for SOOOOO long, but I fear I am to excited for it, like I am going to be dissappointed. Its been almost two years, I am ready to subject my body to any testing known to man, regardless of pain. Pain is only temporary, and I am willing to go through anything to become pregnant. What should I expect her (yes, I made sure I got a female doc lol) to do at the appointment? I've always done papsmears with my regular doctor and I've never seen a gyno for fertility issues. What is your experiences? My insurance covers ANY diagnostic testing, as well as clomid, injectibles, hsg's, etc. It does not cover actual IVF, or IUI which I am not wanting to do anyways due to my husband's religious background. I have taken 2 cycles of clomid, and it made me VERY moody and my uterus lining became too thin. Can I insist on no more clomid and move on to injectables?

Hello, before I undergo In vitro fertilization (an expensive fertility treatment) at Stanford I wanted to ask for feedback from current or former patients. I'm choosing Stanford because their IVF is less expensive than other fertility clinics but still expensive enough for me to be cautious where I spend that type of money. My insurance covers $7000 for fertility , so pretty much I have to just have to pay $5000 out of pocket. I also took 10,000IU of hcg before IVF and took a pregnancy test everyday after my retrieval to test out and trigger. I did a 5 day transfer. Tested trigger out by 8dpo and at 9dpo it started getting darker and triggers DO NOT get darker. So I got a positive 4 days after my 5 transfer so it's definitely possible but the only way to know for sure if it you tested out your trigger. I know the doctors suggest not testing on your own because it adds stress but I had to know before I went in and had them tell me! GOOD LUCK, I say keep testing, it's the only thing I looked forward to during this horrible waiting period!

HELP!! I'm desperate for advice!!?

I am due to start chemo on the 24th of this month, I am also currently taking my exams in the hope of becoming a teacher to disabled children, which I am really struggling with given everything that is going on, to top it off my fiance has just been told he MAY have a brain tumour (we get the results next week) AND we are due our third and final course of IVF when I finish chemo as it can't be done simultaneously! I just found out today my 7 month old baby boy has cerebral palsy . The neurologist used the word ''encephalomalacia'' . She showed me pictures of his MRI and both sides of his brain had one part that looks ''abnormal''. She went on to say that that part of his brain is what controls motor skills , speech , and sensation . My baby had a HSV 2 infection that caused meningitis and he had seizures . He was in the hospital for a month & i was there by his side ALL the way through . Of course he's going to start physical therapy , occupational therapy , and he's already registered in Early intervention services . The problem is the neurologist couldn't tell me how bad his cerebral palsy is and whether he would be able to walk , talk or hold his head up . He's 7 months old , he cant hold his head up , he wont look at people , wont pick up toys or kick and smiles every once in a while , he doesn't coo or giggle , the only time he' would bear weight on his legs is when hes upset & crying & he can sit up but he cant hold his head up so he falls forward or back . He has made an improvement with more muscle control in his mouth so he doesn't leak milk when he drinks anymore. I just want to know what to expect im sorry for the long story but i cant even eat right now and i have unanswered questions. Did you have a child who could bear weight on his legs and still ended up in a wheelchair ? Can CP cause blindness ? I am in your same situation. My period started today on Day 9 post-transfer. Keepy taking your medication and wait for the pregnancy blood test at the doctor's. Just don't get your hopes up. The same thing happened on our first try. I count it as a miscarriage. Baby dust to you.

I have pcos and have been on metformin for 8 month now, this was my 1st cycle of clomid and it has failed, i can still try clomid over more cycles and keep hope it's fine. If this doesn't work would a doctor refer me for IVF and would it be free? x

If HSV-2 first outbreak is mild, is there still a high chance of reoccurring outbreaks?

I was just diagnosed with HSV-2 genital herpes, my first outbreak was so mild I thought that I just cut myself shaving. Since it was so mild, are my chances of spreading it and having other outbreaks just as high as they would've been with a more severe first outbreak?

I think you've just got to wait to see if either or both of you is positive for type 2. He doesn't have a very good reason to lie since your relationship is open. When I got my culture test (not back yet) the doc was of the opinion that my sore looked more like type 1 than 2. I suppose if his doc gave him any opinion on that he'd have mentioned it to you though.

I'm a 26yr old female and myself and my husband are disputing this. Basically he wants me to wait to try for a baby until after I've completed a yr long education course that i am taking on next September. I do not want to wait this long. We have lots of money and hiring help is not an issue. I have a housekeeper and a nanny already. I just want to complete my family before i'm 30 and not end up being some sad old mum who has to revert to IVF (which we know doesnt work ...ever) . I would hate to have to be so desperate as to pump my body full of drugs to do what is the most natural thing in the world for normal healthy woman. So hence, i do not want to delay this. Also i do not want some huge age gap between my children. They are 8yrs, 6yrs, 4yrs, 3yrs and an 18 month old. I'm just ready to make it no.5 NOW and perhaps finish my family at No. 6 by the time i'm 30, 31 AT MOST. Taking this on will not be a challenge. I have lots of support. The school and nursery is 5 mins walk from our home. My two sisters live around the corner, both stay at home mums. And i have a plethora of friends in the neighbourhood, all stay at home mums. Plus hired helps no problem, moneys not an issue. Whys my husband holding out?

If 60-90% of Americans have oral herpes, how come more people don't have genital herpes?

If the percentage is so high and you can pass herpes without even showing signs, then why isn't it passed from oral sex? I doubt that all people realize that they have cold sores especially in the early stages...I just figured that it would be more prevalent since HSV-1 and 2 can be present in either oral or genital regions

HSV-1 Negative with a Boyfriend With Cold Sores (Please disclose to your partner!!!)?

My boyfriend decided to tell me 6-months into our relationship that he gets cold sores. He assumed "everybody had it" (which is NOT true) and has now exposed me to the virus for 6-months though he only had a cold sore when he went away for a few weeks. I'm scared and angry I was put at risk (as well as his less than honest answers about being tested/cleared for STDs - he apparently slept with someone else after those tests). I am a 30-year old woman who just tested HSV-1 negative but I know it can take a while to show up. We only had oral sex twice but obviously kissed a lot. When am I in the clear? My doc said to get tested in 3-months, but could it still show up after that? Why can't people realize this is something you need to disclose to your partner???!!! Hi all. I have HSV-1 genital herpes. I have not had an outbreak in so long but I still take my meds. Since then, most guys have been reluctant to have sex with me and rejected me when they heard I had it. Some took the chance and we used condoms and they never got it. Now, I have been considering using the female condom, but I am not sure guys will understand or still want to do it. Im scared of pain but need to do ivf or iui,any advice on how it feels ?

I did IUI. I don't know what the plan is at your doctor's office, but I had to call on Day 1. From there I went in for internal ultrasounds every other day alon with blood draws. I started injectible drug therapy after that first appt and it went every day for almost 2 weeks. I am also diabetic so I also do daily injections in the stomach twice a day of insulin. Honestly the IUI drug needles are bigger than the insulin ones. I will not sugar coat it and tell you it doesn't hurt or that you get used to it. I can still feel the pain in my arms from the blood draws and the pain in my stomach from them pushing to examine my ovaries. The stomach shots hurt, but the Hcg boost hurts much worse. But ever single shot, painful ultrasound, and agonizing blood draw is worth it. Some how you find the strength to go on. When you think you cannot possibly take any more this strength comes to you. I am not trying to scare you. I have a beautiful son who made everything worth it. Is it wrong of me to try and encourage someone to give our family their baby?

I have a really good friend who I go to school with. Her son is 18 and got a 17 year old pregnant. She found out when she was nearly 5 months along, and wants to have an abortion. My friend is trying to talk her out of it and into adoption, and my friend is considering taking the baby although she is 44 and in school to be a nurse, so she is very busy. My cousin has been on the waiting list for years. Her and her husband are Christian wonderful, stable people. They can't afford to have another IVF so are now looking for adoption, but have not been contacted even after waiting so long. Well I just popped off today and told her that I knew someone who would be really good parents, and she sounds interested. Is that wrong? The pregnant girl is supposed to contact me about the family but I don't want to pressure her, and I SURE don't want to tell my cousin yet.

Are fibroids harmfull ?

I suffered from serious back problems during mu pregnancy due to fibroids, since having my son I have continued to feel a strain in my which has effected me at work n find it hard to sleep at times, i am constanley having to explain to people tht I'm not pregnant as my stomach sticks out as if I were this has becaome quite upsetting for me. So I finally went to the doc who examined me her conclusion was tht I do have a large fibroid the size of a 14week pregnancy. I feel so Depresed now n worry this is going to effect my next pregnancy. Probably because you came back with meningitis 3 times in one year and have geniral herpes and they wanted to rule out HIV. However, you were 18 and that is the age of consent and they felt like your mother may have been pressuring you not to get it done and so when she left they asked you again. It would be inappropriate if you were a child but you were not.

Oral Herpes Q, I Prefer to Have a Dr. Answers This Please...Please take ur time to read, i'm really scared?

So about a week ago I developed minor symptoms of strep throat and i originally thought it was because my brother and my sister had it. My sis was stupid and didn't finish her antibiotics so she gave them to me (only 8 pills) so the symptoms of strep throat went away for about a day and 1/2 then i woke up with a hard time swallowing and a 99.9 temp. on Friday morn. then I noticed a had what i think is a canker sore but i'm not sure on the top of my mouth btwn my gum and cheek, and its about half a cm long (just a guesstimate) and i took a flashlight to look at my throat and saw the white spots on my tonsils. I slept through saturday and it feels like my throat is getting better and my fever hasn't returned in a day and a half which is why i'm worried that it may be herpes because i have been sexually active, I have told my boyfriend about this, he said i have nothing to worry about and that he is clean, has never cheated, and has been tested, and I told him he doesn't have to lie to me because even if he is lying i still need to take car of myself and he said there's no need for that cause again "I have nothing to worry about" It just seems so odd that if it is strep, its going away and at the same time I have a canker sore or what i think to be a canker sore in my mouth. Do I have something to worry about? is it ok for strep to act this way? my mother made me an appointment to see if its strep Monday, if its not should just bluntly ask for a herpes test? my mom has taken me to get tested before this boyfriend before I was negative for everything but HSV cause I've never been tested for it.
