It is also a technique that can be used when many of the sperm are damaged or mis-shapen. I had a friend who tried sperm washing as a way to get pregnant, and it failed. A boss had seven daughters and used it to get a boy. It isn't super expensive, but is usually done at a fertility clinic. Anyone can have it done.
