HSV1 (Herpes) treatment for breakouts?

I am having outbreaks on my face from last 7-9 years now. I am 27 right now. recently I went for the Herpes testing and it came positive for HSV1. So, until now I was taking so many measures to control the breakouts...but now Its the whole another story. The breakouts are not worse, but I want to make my face very clear. So, is there any medicine that I can use. Also, does HSV 1 has any life threating stuff. Or does it makes the life shorter. Please let me know. Any advice is appreciated.
