HSV AROUND mouth, how do u take care of it?

I'm using 1gm valtrex a day, and I also applied carmex lip balm on the sores.. i do not have this on my lips, i have it AROUND my mouth area.... what are some ways you take care of this to get it to go away? its been 3 weeks too long! and i have a dinner date tonight an im so embarrassed i need a miracle worker...
